“Is it bad?” Wukong asks from the other side of the fire, cast in an orange glow. Macaque looks up at him and rolls his eyes.
“Could be worse,” he says. It’s a half truth. It doesn’t feel bad, mostly because the area has already begun to go numb, which might be worse. “Might be poisoned, though. Stupid thing was probably venomous.”
“Shit. Is it…?”
Life-threatening?
Macaque snorts. “Guess we'll have to sit here and find out, huh?”
Or, alternatively: two monkeys walk into a cave.

The objects clattered on the vanity as Wukong’s hands gripped firmly onto the surface of the wood, keeping Macaque leaned over it, staring up at the towering Great Sage. All he could do was stand still as the ginger-furred monkey leaned onto Macaque’s side, whispering into his ears.
“There are more ways to make you sing.” He huffed, “And you know what type of show I want.”

Summary
As of recently, however, the two have been getting along. Saving someone twice in the same year does that apparently. Getting along seems to present its own set of problems, however. Said problems being their old habits.
See back when Wukong and Macaque were still together they had these… routines for lack of a better word. One of said routines was making sure they kissed at sunset, no exceptions. This had led to… a bit of property damage… sometimes a lot…
Or: Five times these idiots kissed at sunset, plus one time Mei and MK finally figured out what was going on.

Count of Monte Cristo musical inspired au (it is good damn music) – in where Azure Lion, Golden-Winged Peng and Yellowtusk discuss their sworn brother , Sun Wukong. Peng and Yellowtusk are keen to throw the stone monkey under heavens might as a scapegoat for their crimes against the jade emperor if they fail – Azure is eager for that to, but for a darker purpose.
The 6-earred Macaque would be so lost and alone without his mate…Azure Lion would be there through the others grief and anguish, there to comfort the other every night Wukong is absent.
