Summary
Trying to explain it makes Glinda realize how little she understands of the past few days – weeks, really: a letter from Elphaba, delivered by a Pigeon at her window, entreating her for help. Elphaba, alive somehow against all odds. And Fiyero too, apparently right there under her nose all along, hideously transformed into that straw abomination. And then transformed again, worse still, back to this state of brokenness, on the edge of death.
Elphaba has been the architect of it all, Glinda thinks, yet barely present. Certainly not explaining or apologizing. Talking about resources and expectations. Telling her that Fiyero didn’t want her involved. Suddenly she feels like the biggest fool of all, for trusting Elphaba yet again despite all of the times she’s been betrayed.

Summary
As sunlight pierces through the veil of storm clouds, the rogue cultivator alights on the pier with all the grace and dignity of a lofty immortal coming down from his mountain. He looks so utterly perfect, Jiang Cheng can hardly believe that this man was the same one that had been flung like a ragdoll through Jiang Cheng's storehouse.
He glances Jiang Cheng up and down, the corner of his mouth tugging up a fraction as he says, "Not bad."
Jiang Cheng stares up at the rogue cultivator, wide-eyed and open-mouthed. "Not… not bad?" Jiang Cheng hears himself say. Throwing his arm out to the wreckage of his storehouse, he cries out, "Not bad?! What part of all this is not bad to you?!"

Summary
Despite a misspent youth and the memorable stint as Fire Lord, Zuko’s end is peaceful, gentle, and kind. So much so that, upon reincarnating into an entirely unfamiliar world, he lets himself be cautiously optimistic. Never mind that his new parents are peculiar or that his grandparents are perpetually overworked; he’s healthy, cared for, and before long he acquires a baby sister. Rhaella is a chubby-cheeked, purple-eyed squiggle of delight who’s thrilled to spend time with him. On balance, Zuko decides, this second go-round is altogether less complicated than the first.
