Lately, Merchants have taken to flirting with unwitting Seam folk as a joke, sometimes going so far as to ask them out on a date. I've even heard of a couple instances of a Merchant asking someone from the Seam to marry them, and then laughing hysterically when the poor recipient says 'yes'. So, when Peeta Mellark approaches me after the reaping, red with nerves and pushing his lips together as if he's trying very hard not to do something like laugh, I'm immediately wary.
Peeta can't possibly be asking me to marry him for real.

“Is it going to h-hurt?” Jimin asks, voice breaking when he verbalizes his greatest worry. A shaky breath pulls from his lungs, impossibly loud in the quiet of night.
“M… M-M… Mating.” Jungkook grunts, common tongue clumsy and awkward coming from his mouth. It sounds unpracticed, discordant. He motions to the mat and blankets on the ground, striated muscles flexing with every move his capable body produces. Another step closer. “Mating. O-Okay?”
Permission, Jimin realizes. The Head Alpha of the Jeon Pack, formidable and revered leader known for his brute strength and staunch ruling, stands here asking for permission before he takes the omega promised to him. He sounds almost nervous, shy and boyish in a way that Jimin never expected.

This is basically an Accidental Warlord Din Djarin fic in which Din plays the role of reluctant DILF leader with a heart of gold and Luke plays the role of initially distrusted twink who quickly becomes beloved by all (especially said warlord). The Mandalorians are like, "we've only had Luke Skywalker for a day and a half but if anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself."

Summary
If there's anything in the world harder than making two rivaling packs finally sit down and negotiate for truce, it's trying to figure out why the beautiful omega from the other pack keeps making rather brazen (and technically forbidden) advances on Jeongguk. Sure, Jeongguk might have had one too many dreams about the omega, but that's a secret between him, the Spirits, and his underpants. Nobody else knows.
So why does it feel like the omega can see right into his heart?
Alternatively: Jeongguk has to keep his massive crush on a certain omega a secret because of pack politics. The rest of the world seems to be sabotaging his efforts.
