Summary
In room 1410, Ilya Rozanov is ready to walk out the door after successfully getting his 19 year old hockey rival into bed. He knew how to make this moment happen and he knows what they have to be to each other now that it's over. But as he turns the doorknob to leave, he's stopped with questions he never expected. And giving Shane Hollander what he needs in that moment will change everything.
Author's notes: I’m autistic and see a lot of myself in Shane Hollander. So I thought, in this situation, what if he did exactly what I did the first time I hooked up with someone and didn’t know what the protocol was after it was over, what the next steps were, how to be like everyone else in a moment that felt amazing and confusing at the same time. What if he just asked?
Canon divergent from the first hookup seen in HR s01ep01. Some things are from the show - aged up Marleau and Hunter, mainly - but the timeline is a mix of both. (Notably, they don't wait *two years*, they stick to the book timeline. IYKYK.) Some tags are for later chapters. The video opens with an air of domesticity and almost innocence to it that foreshadowed nothing of what would follow. A quick sweeping shot of a bedroom, lights low, before the camera settles on a man standing in front of a mirror. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy. Ilya Rosanov is just finishing pulling the jersey over his head, abs and a trail of hair disappearing under a sea of blue. He turns to look in the mirror. His black boxer briefs visible where the jersey ends. HOLLANDER spelled across the back with 24 in the center

Summary
Shane hasn’t been new on a team since his rookie season. He hasn’t had to walk into a locker room full of guys he doesn’t know since he was nineteen. That first year in Montreal had been one of the most exhausting of his life, and the hockey had been the least of it.
Boston’s locker room will be easier than Montreal's, Shane thinks. Hopes.

The evidence is mounting. It’s getting very difficult to ignore: first that sweatshirt, then the definitely-not-a-dick-pic in the locker room, and now the phone call. It’s a shame really; Lily’s such a sweet girl. She makes Shane so happy.
And Shane? Hayden’s almost positive Shane is cheating on Boston Lily with Ilya Rozanov.
