He hadn’t even noticed they’d come undone.
“Remember what I said about the kids being tough?”
He nods, struck speechless by her thoughtless affection.
“You’re pretty tough too. You take all these hard hits and then you stand back up and take another and another.”
Her small hands, stiff with the cold, squeeze at his foot before she rises; barely taller than him even though he’s still sitting down.
“You know you don’t have to do that, right?”

So if I wanted to sit around with all you people and play Settlers of Catan while eating homemade pretzels, I would. But I don’t, so I don’t. You are a roof over my head and food on my plate. Other than that, you can all leave me the hell alone.” He turns and the bedroom door slams.
“Is that right,” Tony tells the closed door, setting his hands on his hips. “Oh, we’ll see about that.”

Summary
James Potter loved Lily Evans from the moment he knew what it truly was to love anybody. But, in the end, it didn’t matter that James had declared that he would never love anyone else but Lily. Because he still lost her.
One year on from Halloween 1981, James is struggling to raise Harry alone whilst drowning in an impenetrable dark sea of grief, determined to never love again. Because, in his experience, to love, is to lose.
Luckily, Regulus Black knows quite a lot about loving and losing. And drowning, too, considering the fact that he survived the cave in 1979 and faked his death for two years, popping in to give Sirius the fright of his life on Halloween.
And, consequently, showing up just in time for the events that followed. The shattered remnants of people that the war left behind.
Maybe Regulus will be able to show James that it’s okay to extinguish the first love flame, whilst simultaneously giving him the parenting help he is too ashamed to ask for. And, in return, maybe James will manage to convince Regulus that love isn’t something you earn, something that always has a catch.
Maybe they just needed one another all along, to take that step into the daylight.

Lucerys Velaryon falls into the sea.....to get thrusted right back up and in the time when that disastrous family dinner took place and do everything he can to stop his death, the war and the destruction of House Targaryen.
A retelling of the Dance of the Dragons as it follows Lucerys as he tries to stop a civil war and the devastation of his family and their dragons. Turns out nothing too grand is always required to mend broken bonds and alter the course of events.
Sometimes, it is just about the simple things.
Aemond is just confused and divided as he navigates around duty to his family and salvation; and Lucerys makes sure that two of those aspects merge as one, making the threadbare string of a long lost affection toward each other re ignite.

First blood, the part of his mind trained to a fine edge by Ser Criston’s steady tutelage remarks. To be followed by the smaller but much, much more vocal part that names him kinslayer.
