A smallish figure shambled in, more raincoat than man, with a mess of curls - mess being the operative word - and a sheepish expression. He looked to be somewhere between his late thirties and early fifties, but where, precisely, was unclear.
“Ah, so sorry to bother you, I can see you’re busy, but, if I might just have a word with a Mr …” - the man surreptitiously checked a notebook, as if his failure of memory might somehow be hidden from plain sight - “Elias Bowtchard?”

Day 8: Abandoned

Virgil feels the blood drain from his face. “You die,” he says, and Julian tenses, even though he’s heard that prediction a million times. “If you try to shoot Panacea. And you can’t go after Goldeye, or Panacea heals him before it even slows him down.”
“Yeah, see?” Julian looks a lot more grim all of a sudden, easy smile robbed of friendliness and humor. Usually Virgil can count on some amused tolerance from his older cousin, the one who took him from his aunt and uncle’s house when they stopped bothering to feed him and said he found something better to do than school- who promised him a place to stay if he’d use the ability he tried to hide for something besides avoiding bullies. Now he stifles the urge to shrink back. “We don’t have a lot of options here, kid. You can see that, can’t you?”
“I don’t see good scenarios,” Virgil reminds him for the thousandth time. “There could be something we can do, it doesn’t always mean we’re doomed-”
“There is something we can do,” Julian says, and doesn’t let go of Virgil’s wrist.

Summary
It was the next day when he felt the familiar itch, and instead of looking for something sharp, he looked at the box. He pulled out a few brushes and a few colors and sat, staring at them.
He stared for five minutes before the itch became unbearable and he sighed, reaching out.
He painted a vine of pink and white flowers curling around his left forearm, and when he was done, the itch was gone.
He started doing it more and more, until he found himself painting on his skin even without the itch that had first motivated him to do so. Remy was elated, and complemented every piece of artwork he could see.
Virgil’s soulmates were confused, at first. He had told himself he wasn’t going to read their reactions, but he couldn’t help himself. He didn’t think he could bring himself to keep doing it if they hated it.
They didn’t.

Virgil feels the narrative hold on his actions lightening, Thomas getting uncertain about where to go from here; he takes the opportunity to scramble to the side and onto a windowsill, noting with relief that the curtains on the inside are mostly closed.
There’s already noise inside. Virgil frowns- Thomas should not have made that scene that fast, Virgil didn’t even feel the story expand- and curls up on the windowsill, half-crouching, to try to peek through the crack between the curtains. A figure in white and red is pacing through the fanciest gold-plated bedroom Virgil has ever seen, decked in jewels and wearing them as casually as slap bracelets.
Virgil’s eyes narrow.

Summary
Four and a half years after hiding in the walls, Bruno has an accident bad enough for Casita to call for help, and the family’s problems stop being ignorable.
aka: Bruno slips and knocks over about a dozen family crises on his way down.

Summary
There were little things at first that caused the hair on the back of Obi-Wan's neck to stand on end the first few weeks. It was the way cupboards seemed to open during the night in their area or how he found his toiletries all over the bathroom floor on several occasions. Sometimes he thought he heard knocking from other parts of the house, but that could easily be explained away by far too little sleep and copious amounts of coffee. Hallucinations were a symptom of him failing to take care of himself properly. He knew it wasn't Anakin creating the chaos- at least he hoped his brother wasn't getting up at strange hours of the night to mess with him. His brother may still hold a grudge about the fact Obi-Wan left for college, but he figured any revenge for that would be far more creative.
