Summary
The first time Tim comes in with rope burns on his wrists, a lot of different parts of Raylan sit up straight. First is the expected pulse of worry—Tim was clearly tied up and fighting it. Second is a calmer curiosity because Tim’s mutable accent is thick and teasing, and he’s got a lazy sway to his walk that makes something in the back of Raylan’s head remind him that Tim is gay. Third, is blatant interest. Normally Raylan likes to be the one tied up, but there’s always been something intriguing about tying a feisty lover up and making them come all over themselves ’til they can’t take any more.

His head snaps to her.
“No,” he insists, “No I don’t regret it. I mean… I’ve wanted to kiss you for as long as I can remember, I don’t - I don’t regret it.”
Kie smiles and tries to press her lips together to hide how much she likes hearing that he’s wanted this too.
“But,” he continues, “it changed things. Because we used to be like JJ and Kie, friends. And that was good, and it was easy. And I knew where I stood. Like, if I got too touchy you’d push me off and tell me to get lost or whatever. But it’s different now, and I’m just worried… Like I don’t really know what I’m supposed to… or what I’m allowed to do. I don’t want to make you feel, like, bad.”

“Alien…aphrodisiac.” James blinks and takes a few deep breaths, absorbing the information to scratch his head over later. Steve’s the priority now. “At least tell me he didn’t leap into the path of the alien whatever.”
The Widow laughs. It’s half for show, James knows, but he thinks he can see genuine amusement in her cool green eyes. Steve’s better at reading her, but Steve’s apparently busy rubbing one out in the bathroom.
“Not this time,” she says. “It’s not a weapon. One of the scientists grabbed the first thing they could in a panic. Steve was the only one in the room with them and got a faceful of blue dust. The effects took a couple of hours to show.”
“And the scientist who used it?”
“Was trying to fuck a wall, last I saw.”
James grimaces.
“It’s not very dignified,” the Widow adds, noting his expression. “Like I said, either the serum’s handling the worst of it, or Steve’s real superpower is his moral compass.”
