Later, he wonders if it isn’t a thousand times more stupid swallowing back all the words he wants to say now. Perhaps all he’d said on Ember Island would have never been quite so foolish, if only he’d gathered the courage to repeat it now that it actually matters.
But Zuko doesn’t. Zuko is a much bigger fool for it, as he’ll find out soon.Katara is a lot of things. But with a gaping hole in her chest, a wound much like the one the keeper of her heart took for her, much like a lightning-inflicted scar, the testimony of all the things that can never be, she is one thing more than she is anything else: hollow.
All the titles that have followed and added to her existence amount to nothing, nothing at all, when the one thing she can’t be is his.

Summary
Nearly seven years after Ozai’s defeat, the children who won the war are not children anymore. Keeping peace is far harder than winning wars. Fire Lord Zuko approaches the question of who will be his Fire Lady, and trouble stirs in his nation. Katara confronts the path she has been on with Aang. Toph considers her future inside or outside of the Earth Kingdom, as tensions rise in her homeland. Sokka and Suki grow more fiercely together as the world threatens to pull them apart. The Gaang grows up. Zutara.

Daphne starts putting two and two together and realizes that Simon has not been honest about his capacity to have children. This story diverges from a scene in 1x6 when she's out in Clyvedon alone and tells the horseman that she will take a walk in the rain rather than ride back in the carriage.
