Preening is a very important thing for avians to do in order to be able to fly, and to keep their wings healthy. It is difficult for an avian to preen their wings by themselves, so they tend to have their flock mates help them with preening their wings. It is something that is sacred to avians, and they only let their closest flock mates preen them.
