He takes a moment to breathe in the ambient sounds, and closes his eyes, imagining he can hear the vines crawling through the cracks — hoping someday his bones will be just as beautiful.
His epitaph would read: “Here lies a lost soul that found redemption in the dark.”
It will say nothing of his name, that he ruined his legacy, that he was a failure, that he was in love.
Nobody knows the Shouto that grows rose gardens in rib cages, and they never will.

"Mine for tonight, right?" Inasa breathes against his kiss, tasting him — tasting year after year of sunset embers burning through the last of Shouto's bourbon; bittersweet and broken symphonies composed through promises of oblivion on his barely parted lips.
Moody quicksilver and stormy skies flit across the endless black galaxies of Inasa's eyes and Shouto inhales slowly, filling his lungs until they ache with every word he leaves unsaid.
He dives deep and comes up slowly.
He surrenders.
