It was all too confusing, like watercolors running together — Elphaba’s body against hers, Elphaba’s body which was too lean and pointy and hard, and Madame Morrible’s hand on her chin, and a cookie dissolving in her mouth, and a man’s hot breath on her earlobe, and a man’s large hands spreading apart her thighs.
After the funeral and their talk with Morrible, instead of going out with their friends, Glinda and Elphaba return to their room. Glinda turns to Elphie for clarity and comfort.

Galinda sighed and slammed her book shut. She wanted to think about Fiyero, damn it. She’d even sat down with her History textbook after dinner to do so, enchanted by the mental image of herself daydreaming about her literal prince with her chin on her hand and hearts drawn all over the page.
Instead, her mind kept meandering back to her roommate, of all people. Galinda found it hard to concentrate on Fiyero when she despised Elphaba so much.
