Summary
Astarion has been in captivity under Cazador Szarr for 200 years. But he's never been asked to kidnap children before. But that's exactly what Cazador asks of Leon, Petras, and Astarion -- and he makes it clear a lot rides on this mission. So Astarion and company set out to kidnap ten Gur children, unwittingly helping Cazador complete his complement of spawn for the Ascension ritual.

Summary
For the first time, Dedra Meero looked at him like he was a being. A sentient being, a member of society, not a shit smear caught in the tread of her boot. Lying at night in his childhood bedroom, he imagined many scenarios where she would – not look up to him with tears in her bright eyes like he was her hero, of course not – but where she would realize what he could offer to the Empire generally and to her investigation in particular, and reward him.

Even if he did save her life, she can't afford to get distracted. But she finds herself watching him. She can't stop. Maybe he could be useful to her, after all. Maybe she's lonely.
