    Mikey disbands Toman. It’s not like they have a meeting, it’s not like they take a vote. He just does it one day, with the sweetest grin on face. Kazutora wants to kill him, for a second, this feeling comes up inside him, this overwhelming betrayal. He wants to get close to him, wants to shake him by his shoulders and scream in his face, you made this for me, you did this for me. And he took it away without even asking.

    “You don’t look celebratory”.

    It’s purred from nearby. Scattered motorbikes and upturned crates create makeshift tables, beer on them. Lazing on his uniform coat, Shuji looks at him with a flicker of a smile, canines just showing. Kazutora looks at him, considering.

    “I think it’s fucking dull”, he says with a shrug. “To throw in the towel”.

    Shuji leans forward, his smile widening. “I agree. Want?”

    He offers him a cigarette. Kazutora takes it.

    “Mikey bitched out”, Shuji sighs, exaggerated. A few years ago, when Kazutora first started to orbit Shuji, he used to defend Mikey harshly from his comments, used to defend everyone actually. He doesn't, now, and silent agreement feels like a thrill with Mikey laughing just across the fire from him. “Lost his edge”.
