Summary
They could never understand how close he was, close to the solution, to true freedom. In one fell swoop, they ruined it all for him. Fine, he would fix this himself, he did not need them. He did not need his friends, he always preferred to work alone, it helped himself focus.
With nothing but time, Pebbles is determined to find the solution to the Rot.
Now, if only the local rodent would stop bothering him...

Summary
Slugcats, even extraordinary ones, are ill-suited to heroism. They are small, squishy, and generally very vulnerable to the dangers of the world, but they have little choice but to buckle up and attempt some heroics all the same, because no one else is going to do it for them.
Eight of these fine creatures have set out on a journey to meet with a vast machine-intellect known as an Iterator, and along the way they will have to navigate perilous terrain, contend with a well-armed and organized clan of scavengers, and face down a vulture king of considerably above-standard intellect.
Which is to say, it's a fairly standard trip through the grounds of an Iterator. Now if they can just make it to them before they collapse...

Summary
Five Pebbles is frustrated. He's tired of searching for the solution, tired of trying over and over again, and angry at his creators for leaving him behind to finish their works.
Usually he'd turn to Seven Red Suns, but a temporary communications issue ensures the iterator is unavailable at a critical moment. With little choice he turns to the only iterator left he can think of.
NSH: Speaking entirely seriously, you need a hobby.
(In which Pebble's 'Bugs in a maze' talk happens with Sig, hobbies are more fascinating than he realises, and eventually slugcats can into space)
