During the events of Not What He Seems, Mabel is sucked into the portal, leaving Dipper and Stan with the task of rescuing two twins (and the fear that neither will return). In the multiverse, Mabel meets a familiar face, and Ford takes his great-niece under his wing. Now, after four long years where everyone’s become a little older, a little wiser, and a little more lost, Stan and Dipper are finally ready to bring their twins home.

Summary
A month ago, Mabel Pines fell through a portal, into the multiverse, and into the care of her long-thought-to-be-lost Grunkle Ford. Many interdimensional scrapes later, it's time for her 13th birthday, the first (and, she hopes, the last) she'll spend away from Earth.
As a treat, and a sort of belated apology gift for her brother for not being at home with him, she and Ford record another instalment of her 'Mabel's Guide to Life' series. Starring some 'chicken-y flute-y critters', the robots they're fighting a local insurgency against, and a creative application of archery combined with high explosives.
