Pansy grimaced a little, and said shortly, “Potter,”
The silence between them was palpable.
“Potter,” Draco said slowly, “You want me… to marry Harry Potter,”

Draco had given up on love officially - he was done with it in fact. Three broken engagements later and all it had brought him was heartache and pain, and he’d had enough. But if he wanted to have any chance of exonerating his family name in the eyes of Wizarding Britain, he needed to get married (despite what Pansy said to the contrary) and preferably sooner rather than later. A political match was just what he needed. A match with no expectation of love.
That’s what he’d planned for, at least.

He flinched back, and looked down to find the skeletal head of doe-eyed Thestral following the path of his hand in an attempt to lick off the blood that coated his arm. Harry froze for a minute, then grinned. He knew exactly how he was getting to London.’—
