Summary
Set after the Mockingbird episodes and before the twins’ departure for Waifei Peninsula. In the wake of the revelation that Belle and Wise are actually Proxies and not simple video store managers, Zhu Yuan has fallen out with them as a result of her attachment to justice and her inability to reconcile her values with the idea of illegality suggested by mainstream Proxy activities. Even if you want to believe that your ending isn’t already predestined, there are still outside forces that will make you feel helpless.” Her lips stretched into a sardonic smile. “In a universe with all powerful aeons, aren’t we all just specks of dust compared to them?”
The other woman hesitated. “I don’t…want to feel like my life isn’t mine alone again.” She placed her fingers over the hollow of her throat. “I don’t like the idea of my ending being laid out for me.”
“Then don’t believe it.”

He’s never been the type to read body language, but Yanagi’s crossed arms, constant fidgeting of her glasses, and inability to look him in the face kind of suggests that he should drop this conversation. Still, his mouth ends up moving faster than his thoughts. “Do you not like the chief back, or something?”
Yanagi’s face flashes red, and a flood of words come out. “I do like her! She means a lot to me, Asaba. She’s such a hard worker, and she gives me so much purpose. I want her just as much as she needs me. It’s just complicated since she's… her, and I’m myself.”
Harumasa just stares awkwardly, slack jawed and dumbfounded. How did he not realize the deputy chief was gay sooner?

“Well? Go on?” She chuckled, raising a brow at the woman across from her. “I’d prepared myself for the dangers in store by letting a foxian have me in her heat. I must say, I’m rather underwhelmed, sunlight.”

Or, Fugue's fear over her powers and desires leave her and her girlfriend unfulfilled. But, a surge of dominant urges brought on by a unique twist on Fugue's heat cycle leaves Ruan Mei with a wonderful opportunity to poke her until she pops. Let's just hope the genius can handle the consequences of playing with literal fire.
