“You can go back inside, you know,” Mike finally says, after a few moments of silence. It’s a late leeway, because the selfish part of him that wants Will all to himself wants Will to stay here, say that he wouldn’t be anywhere else, to kiss him, to scoot a little closer and let him know he’s here. “I’m fine.”
“Okay,” Will replies, and makes no move to get up.
Mike squints at him, and Will turns away from the street to look back. He offers a grin. Mike squints harder, despite his own lips twitching into a smile.
Mike escapes a celebration party to drown in his own loneliness. Will joins him.

Summary
The fact that Mike is single now isn’t relevant. It can’t be relevant. Another girl will come along, and it won’t be Will because he doesn’t have the right parts. Wasn’t born the right way, the way that Mike would have preferred. It’s fine, except for the fact that it’s not fine at all, except for the fact that it’s so not fine that Will’s life is in imminent danger due to how fucked up he is over it.
But boys don’t cry, according to The Cure, so Will won’t either. He’s trying to take it to heart.

this was amazing. it was like an adaptation of Stranger things, and I LOVED IT! the characters were great, the dialogue delicious, the magic seemed so real and tangible, an amazing read

Summary
Will Byers has been in love with Mike wheeler for as long as he could remember. He loved him when he saw him on that swing set, he loved him when he was dating his sister, and he loved him the week before they had to leave for college.
The last week of summer before college should have been simple. But time doesn’t move the way it should. Between laughter, bike rides and memories, Will is learning that some truths can’t be ignored forever. Some feelings just refuse to be hidden.

“Guys, Mike’s not like me, he just can’t name characters.” They both give him a pointed look, clearly not believing a word. “I’m serious, every character is a reference to someone we know.”
“Are they now?” Dustin raises an eyebrow at him.
“Yes!” Will is perhaps a bit exasperated, “Stephen and Jay are clearly Steve and Robin, and James is Hopper,” at the blank look they give him, he clarifies, “his first name is Jim.”
This somehow only makes Lucas seem more unimpressed, “okay, but you do see how that’s more suspicious right?”
“What? That Mike can’t come up with names?”
“No,” Lucas shakes his head and clasps Will in the shoulder, “that the first name Mike thought to cannibalize when coming up with a boyfriend for you was his own”.The party grows closer after Will moves in with the Wheelers, picking up D&D again. It all goes well until Mike introduces a new character, Sir. Gabriel Whepler, whose sole purpose seems to be flirting with Will.
