    There hadn't been very many things Jason was interested in as a child. Sure, he had a mild interest in a lot of things, but it wasn’t quite the same. To Jason, nothing could beat spending hours in the library pouring over Jane Austen or watching an auto shop repairman named Dave, who sometimes taught him about engines.

     

    It was hard to go to school. Jason knew that it was important, but it had always been hard to focus.  It didn’t help that he just constantly had to move. Most of the subjects came easy, after all they were just patterns. The main problem he had was when books were too descriptive and full of idioms and metaphors. 

     

    One day, he had been called into the counselor’s office. It was then they began Jason’s diagnosis journey. He and his mother couldn't afford the typically long and expensive process, but luckily a mix of school and government aid covered the costs. To him the diagnosis was just a bunch of words, but those words brought so much clarity.

     

    ADHD and autism.
