“Look,” the man crossed his arms. The door rang nearby, signaling another disgruntled customer had left the little deli. Heavy rain began to lighten as it dripped down glass panes. She was about to pour cream and sugar into her cup — three packets of cream, four packets of sugar, just as the goddess intended — when someone tapped her shoulder.
“I need that.”
Annette blinked. “Need what now?"
“That.”
He gestured to the cup of coffee in her shivering hands – the last and only one left for the morning rush, the cashier said – and she frowned.
“Well, tough luck,” Annette huffed. “I got here earlier than you.”

Felix had a lot of childhood memories with the tree house on the Fraldarius estate, the last one being just after Glenn’s death.
Felix didn’t like to think of any of those, and was content to leave the tree house and all its good and bad memories decaying and forgotten.
But maybe it was time to take back both the tree house and his memories for the living. Not that his wife was going to give him much choice in the matter.
