Summary
Sokka has never been into other alphas. He's always gone for soft, feminine betas and omegas like Suki and Yue.
But when Fire Lord Zuko, the alpha of alphas, finds himself divorced, heirless and cornered by enemies in his own court, he decides to ask his old friend to help him fix the succession problem. By letting Sokka fuck his alpha body into an omega's and breed a Fire Nation heir into him.
What can Sokka say? He's a giver.

Summary
Soulmates are chosen by the spirits and can hear each other’s thoughts. Sokka thinks it’s cheesy and dumb. Zuko thinks it’s poetic justice that he doesn’t have one because he doesn’t deserve it. Cruel irony is finding out that the prince of the Fire Nation (and the person currently hunting you) is your soulmate.
(Set during and after the events of ATLA, and during some of the events of the comics that follow. This was an excuse to write a slow-burn where Sokka and Zuko are soulmates)

When Sokka was ten, he didn't want to believe in soulmates.
If the Spirits were in charge of soulmates, then he didn’t want one. They took his mother from him, so they must have hated him. They’ll give him a bad soulmate.
He told his father this much, and Hakoda chuckled, pulling his son in closer. “The Spirits, Sokka, are mysterious things. They have a plan for each and every one of us. Mine involved your mother, and your’s will involve a soulmate as well."
“Thanks, Dad.” Sokka yawned, snuggling closer to his father.

When Zuko was ten, he prayed to the Spirits for a soulmate.He wanted so badly for someone to understand his pain, wanted someone to listen to him when he told funny stories that he made up, wanted someone who would love him for who he was.
He told his mother this much, and she smiled down at him, hauling her up into her lap. "The Spirits have blessed you already, my dear. Everyone will get a soulmate, but you have to understand that as a prince of the Fire Nation, your duties to the nation will always come first. Promise me you'll never forget that."
"I promise, Mom." he said, before bounding out of her lap and off towards the turtleduck pond.

Summary
Why Zuko singled him out? Sokka doesn’t know. Every single time they run into each other, Zuko has a new weirdly personal lie to tell Sokka. He knows they aren’t soulmates, so it’s getting rude the more he does it. Sokka just doesn’t understand why his lies are so…nice.

It's a week into Zuko's banishment when his soulmate severs their connection. And just like he doesn't deserve to be home until he's regained his honor, he figures he doesn't deserve a soul connection, either. It's all part of the same lesson.
