Zera has always lived in her identical twin sister Azula's shadow, Azula making very sure of that, always pretending to be her whenever Zera was being praised and shifting all the blame onto Zera if something went wrong.
With no one able to, or rather bothering to learn how to differentiate between the identically looking twins and Azula going out of her way to isolate Zera from everyone else, Zera grew up basically ignored and avoided by all around her.

Iroh shrugged, taking his pieces back and setting the board up once again for another round. “Instinct is a thing you build from constantly being surrounded by college students with hopeless romanticism, my friend,” he said, as he watched Piandao placed the last tile on his setup. "So, when is their next date?"
Piandao sighs once again, and moved his tile first. "Well, I hope it's not during their midterms."

Who knew she'd meet the Fire Lord's firstborn son and her long gone brother on a single day? Iris is once again taken prisoner, on Prince Zuko's ship. Her years of hunting and being hunted are over.
