Summary
A brutal counteroffensive on the Day of Black Sun alters the trajectories of Zuko and Katara's fates, changing their lives forever.
This work delves deeply into the world of Avatar, staying true to much of the source inspiration while taking liberties so as to age it up and break down so many of those amazing themes and questions brought up in the show. Specific focus on trauma, guilt, and PTSD; on the moral gray area that war creates and the inevitability of having to do the hard thing over the right thing. Early chapters set the framework, but later chapters are some of my best writing.
Sprawling, long-form character study (mainly 3rd person, with 1st person flashbacks).
Rated M (read tags). Ignore AO3—work first published in August 2022.

Summary
Katara had been so sure of her plan to liberate the prison rig. How was she to know how efficiently the guards would respond to an uprising? Zuko had been positive that his best course of action was to travel separate from his Uncle. What else was he supposed to do when he came across a person from his past? Sometimes, through all the doubt, two people collide. Eventual Zutara.
This is both a Canon Related and Canon Divergent, reimagined ATLA story. Katara joins Zuko in his journey of self-discovery across the Earth Kingdom as personalities clash and beliefs are questioned. Familiar allies and enemies await them along the way.
Ripple effects of having Katara absent from the majority of 'Book 1: Water,' are seen once Katara and Zuko meet up with the Gaang later on in the story. 'Book 1: Water' occurs mainly in the flashbacks of this story as Chapter 1 picks up close to the start of 'Book 2: Earth.'
The plot of the story has now reached the allied invasion of the Fire Nation Capital City. The scene is set for Zuko's confrontation with his Father, Ozai.

Azula and Zuko are now finally back on the same wavelength! Kinda... Sadly, being reunited with your best friend doesn't mean that your hallucinations and paranoia suddenly stop popping up when it's the least convenient.
Oh well, hopefully the Gaang will learn to live with a new member in their group, even if said member is the guy who killed Aang that one time.Series

Summary
They say bending was a gift from the spirits. Then, without warning, it vanished. No one knows how or why, only that the world is weaker without it.
A stolen scroll. A pirate auction. A Water Tribe 'thief' who knows too much. When Zuko, a disgraced heir to a fallen monarchy, saves Katara from the gallows (or maybe just a terrible deal), he doesn’t realize he’s signing up for a hunt far more dangerous than cursed gold.
Katara believes the art of Waterbending can be restored, and Zuko—against all better judgment—agrees to help her. But their quest will take them across storm-ridden seas, sunken ruins, and icebound wastelands, with mercenaries, spirits, and the Order of the White Lotus on their tail. As the truth behind the curse unravels, so do the walls between them. And by the time they reach the fabled Spirit Oasis, Zuko will have to decide what matters more: the treasure he’s always sought… or the 'thief' who stole his heart along the way.

Summary
This was just Hakoda’s luck, on the run with three children he’d vowed to himself to take to safety—wherever that may be—and they just happened to run into the Dragon of the West.
Unsheathing the knife—his only weapon, of course he had nothing but a measly knife while facing the Dragon of the West—Hakoda stepped forward to stand between the children and the enemy. Like he should have when they’d come to the South Pole and threatened his family.
Never give up without a fight. Not that he needed the blade’s inscription to tell him that.
After escaping from the Western Air Temple, Hakoda is lost in a forest with three Earth Kingdom kids. Thirsty, tired, and struggling to cope with the effects of his prison stay, the last thing he needs is getting kidnapped by an ancient secret society.
But Iroh’s plans to have the Avatar kill the Fire Lord are outrageous, and Hakoda takes issue. Now he has to put up with his mother’s ex and a gloomy firebender while parenting three wayward children, rescuing his crew from prison, and defeating Ozai. Which would be enough to deal with even if the wounds of the past didn’t have a habit of bleeding into the present.

What is TLF?
While the original intention of TLF was to retell Distorted Reality with some mild adjustments, it has in the meantime transformed and evolved into being its own thing. For one, all of my chapters, or episodes, follow the 3-act-structure of a television series, much like the original show, though TLF is much longer in comparison. I also have a very unique writing style that is very similar to a screenplay, while also including a lot of important elements from traditional novel writing. It's probably not for everyone, but oh well.
What can you expect?
If you're the kind of person that dislikes fanfiction if characters don't act exactly like they do in the source material, this is probably not for you. My goal here is to tell a story that builds on the original show, takes influence from DR, but also just manages to exist on its own. If you're a fan of the idea of heading into an almost entirely new adventure with lots of fun character moments, action scenes, new locations and set pieces, romance, LGBTQ+ representation, and a story that builds up slowly towards a big finale, then you might want to check it out.

“Wait, why does Zuko need more food? Aren’t you, like, way buffer and bigger? Shouldn’t you need more energy?” Toph tilted her head in confusion. She wasn’t against it, Sparky definitely needed some pampering with how batshit terrified he always was, even she could admit that, but it was weird. Sparky’s tiny and agile, and Chit Sang is… Well, Toph can’t really see him, but she can feel him, and he’s huge.
Before Zuko could deny it again, Chit Sang turned to her, “He’s a growing boy.”
“So are Sokka and Aang,” Katara countered, shoulders squared.
“He’s a growing firebender boy,” He corrected, “He needs more energy to convert into fire. Energy comes mostly from food, and for firebenders, the sun. He’s only getting about…” Chit Sang squinted at Zuko’s bowl, now holding double the amount of food from before. “A fifth of what he needs.” He pointed at Sokka, “He should really be eating three or four times more than blue guy.”

Summary
Once a peaceful sixteen-year-old monk of the Air Nomads who enjoyed life and traveled the world with his close companions and who only ever wanted a life in the Air Temples, Aang initially set out on his journey to become a fully realized Avatar in secret in the face of a coming darkness that the monks had warned him of, only to wake up a hundred years later to discover a world changed by war and devastation at the hands of the Fire Nation, with his people nearly wiped out.
Brought back to a world that desperately needs him, Aang once again sets out to fulfill his role and destiny as the Avatar; however, he soon realizes that what the world requires is not just a wise and peaceful monk, but the decisive and unwavering hand of someone like his predecessors who came before, willing to tear the skies asunder in the face of those who would plunge it into darkness and chaos.
For they have chosen to defy light and balance, and thus have chosen war with the Avatar.
