Summary
"We're going to be alcoholics by the time we're thirty," Sokka sighed.
"You think we'll live to be thirty?" Zuko asked, honestly thrilled. Sokka had pretty good instincts. Perhaps Zuko should reevaluate his long term goals. He could start by having long term goals.
A more likely alternative was that Sokka was just a hopeless optimist. It just went to show, you never truly saw another man until you stood shoulder to shoulder against a fleet of war balloons intent on raining death upon the city you loved.
Zuko was just a normal guy with normal interests. He liked theatre, burglary, crotchety ostrich horses, watching the Blind Bandit crush her opponents in a glorious display of skill and violence... just your standard banished prince things. It wasn't his fault he kept stumbling into rebellions and uncovering long-buried secrets. Fine, maybe freeing the prisoners was on him, but he was completely innocent of all other treason. Zuko was his father's loyal son. He'd never betray his nation.
Or:
Uncle Iroh took a more creative approach to fostering Zuko's appreciation of other cultures. Now it's everyone's Problem. -

Summary
Nearly a year into her role as the Southern Water Tribe’s ambassador, Katara has accomplished what her counterpart from the North could not: securing reparations from the Fire Nation court. But when sabotage, scandal, and colonial unrest threaten the fragile peace of a post-war world, she finds herself pulled deeper and deeper into the viper’s nest of Fire Nation politics…and closer to its ruler. As rumors swirl and tempers flare between the Ambassador and the Fire Lord, Katara finds a helping hand, and unexpected solace, in the brother of one of her students. In a nation built on blood and lies, she must decide: how far is she willing to go to protect those who cannot protect themselves…and what will it cost her?
This is the first act of a five-act story. Act I is complete and comes to, what I consider to be, a narratively satisfying conclusion. I will be posting the remaining chapters of Act I every day during Zutara Month 2025.

Summary
To Zuko, life is a stage and an important play is taking place in front of him. He believes that it is his destiny to keep the story on track no matter what and ensure everyone gets a happy ending. Things would be so much easier if the characters would stop dying, killing him, and/or ending up in some sort of catastrophic situation. It doesn't really matter, he will reset the stage as many times as it takes until everything is perfect.

[“Here.” The boy holds out a cigarette for him. “You look like you need it.”
Sokka takes it with a grateful smile and is just about to get his lighter when the boy holds out his finger with a small flame flickering above it.
“Oh.” He brings the tip of his cigarette above the flame to light it. “Thanks.”
“No problem.” The boy jerks his head back towards the porch, a clear invitation for Sokka to join him, then he turns around and walks back to the bench. Sokka follows him without a word.]
OR
Sokka’s life slips into meaninglessness after Yue’s death. Nothing seems fun or exciting anymore, he mostly just allows himself to be dragged along with whatever his friends want to do in a desperate attempt to find something to hold onto, though it’s all mostly futile.
Then he meets Zuko, who’s moved into Yue’s old place. Zuko, who’s interesting and strange and kind. Who doesn’t judge Sokka even when he probably should. Who maybe gets it in a way no one else around him does. -

Summary
In retrospect, it was probably Zuko’s fault for making a clearly powerful spirit mad. It definitely wasn’t his smartest move, but in his defense, he’d had a long day.
Zuko finds himself in the world of the Dragon Prince and things spiral from there.

The Fire Lord is in a panic. He is drowning and is only able to follow the simple steps of drowning. Ironic, since the cause of his condition has herself tried to drown him more than once.

Kiyi created the Turtleduck Theatre Troupe in memory of her late parents. When she expands it to Republic City, she recruits Zuko and Bolin to help (Zuko because he's her brother; Bolin because she's seen the NukTuk movers). While working the registration table, they meet a student who needs some extra help and inadvertently helps them figure out something about themselves.

Summary
Zuko thinks the Avatar's collection of misfits is behaving weirdly. They're constantly acting like they know something he doesn't, like they know him when they definitely shouldn't, and they're constantly trying to get him to join them! Which he would never do!
(For some reason, Sokka, Katara, and Aang have memories of growing old, and all the steps it took to get there, but have no idea what triggered it other than breaking Aang out of the iceberg. Naturally, they want things to be better, but teenage Zuko, still in his angry yelling phase? Adorable. They can work with this.)

Summary
As Fire Lord, one thing that Zuko was in charge of was sentencing the prisoners. Usually, that only included going through the person's file and determining if the crime is worth a trial or not. But now, after the war ended, the job obligations changed—at least for the time being. Now, Zuko needed to go through all the files and determine if the person on the list even committed a crime at all.
And one file he comes across is of a man being charged for being the Blue Spirit. Which isn't right. He is the Blue Spirit. Zuko.Or

Summary
This is a continuation of my AU where Zuko is captured at the North Pole during the Siege of the North and sent to the Spirit World. He ended up in the Andor(TV) universe and in the Imperial Narkina V Prison facility. You do not need to read that one to understand this one, but it will probably help set the background for this story. And I apparently can't stop making references to it.
Head's up, Zuko might be a little Out Of Character for Book 2, but that is because he is already redeemed.
Also, Zuko's bad luck is pretty much the only constant in his life, and it will return with a vengeance at some point.
Also, I am Canadian, therefore you may notice some spelling differences from American English. Most common are honour and colour, but there may be more. If you spot it, that is all it is.

Summary
Aang woke up in an entire new age, on a comletely different land mass. Nothing made sense, and he couldn't understand anyone around him.
Katara and Sokka didn't think that they would find the Avatar on a simple fishing trip, but maybe it was just the break they needed... if only they could understand anything he was saying.
Zuko had never actually expected to find the Avatar, but his discovery might just be what they need to gain an edge in the war. He only wished that it wasn't so hard to convince everyone that he wasn't evil.

Summary
The gang's only chance of getting ahold of the Fire Nation's plans is through a theater-loving General on Ember Island. The solution: theater heist. There's just one catch. Katara will have to sub in for the lead actress, and she knows nothing about theater. Good thing Zuko is so familiar with this play, and he's willing to help her however he can. Turns out, acting as romantic leads together complicates things a bit.

Summary
There is something deeply wrong with him. Zuko probably should have realised that a lot sooner. He had been burnt, disowned, and nearly killed. He had grasped onto a relationship that neither part wanted. He had fought bloody battles with his own damn mind for the last 5 years for goodness sake!
And yet, what finally sends him sprawling into the realisation of it all, is a guy who scrambles into his uncle's tea shop one day. A guy with beautiful blue eyes for him to drown in, who can simply smile at him for his brain to grind to a halt.
There just has to be something so deeply wrong with him for that.
