Five years ago Zuko had gone to bed on the second anniversary of his banishment, that night he woke up drowning at sea only to be saved by a bunch of weird pirates with a crazy shirtless firebending captain, a few weeks later they managed to turn the prince into a pirate. After many adventures and tragedies, the feared Firefang finally died on the shores of Laugh Tale paying back his debt to his old captain.
But instead of dying he woke up back on his world a few years into the past, a man who has tasted the freedom of the sea can't go back to serving under a crazy lord so it was time for the elemental nations to lose a prince and gain a pirate.
It was his turn to get a new crew to turn the world upside down.

Zuko stepped out of an inconspicuous black sedan, dressed in dark clothing, blending into the night.He adjusted the collar of his shirt before casually knocking on the door of a run-down basement apartment.
It was close to three in the morning, on a rainy night in early June. It was one of those nights where the moisture count to the asphalt leaving a bright shine where the streetlights glared. It was cool but the air still held a bit of sticky humidity, left over from the day of baking the New York streets in sunlight. Zuko leaned against the brick wall as he waited, scanning the street, but only saw two stray cats fighting over some piece of garbage.
The gun on his belt felt heavy sometimes.

100 years ago, Fire Lord Sozin lead the Fire Nation into war against the other three nations, completely wiping the Air Nomads off the map and turning his sights to the Water Tribes and the Earth Kingdom. The Avatar, the sole person responsible for the peace of the world, vanished around this time and hasn't been seen since, and many have begun to lose hope that he even still exists.
Aang was never the Avatar. His twin sister, Anya, was saved at birth because she was the Avatar's next incarnation. Now, a hundred years have passed and as the last Airbender, it's his jobs to teach the current Avatar airbending...whoever that may be.
For three years, Zuko has searched for the Avatar at the behest of his father, along with the promise to have his honor returned to him. Desperate, Zuko has put every once of his being into this search, and now his luck seems to be turning around. An airbender - the last in the entire world - has been sighted in the Southern Water Tribe, and Zuko just knows that he knows where the Avatar is - if the nomad isn't the Avatar himself.
Yet he keeps insisting he's not. So if he's not the Avatar, then who is? And what is going on with these damn dreams?

At first, Sokka thinks Zuko is an evil spirit possessing him and begs Aang to help him get it out. But as the odd one out in a team of powerful benders, once Sokka learns the identity of his 'pen pal,' he decides to play along and use their bond to get intel on the Fire Nation. For the war effort. That's all.
Any jokes he writes are purely so he can test an audience's reaction. Nothing more.
