Violet had missed so much as a kid herself, and we vowed Fenna wouldn’t miss out if we could help it. If our daughter wanted something but struggled to get it, then by gods, we’d make it happen. No excuses.
“She can still go,” Violet said softly, slipping out of bed and already reaching for the soft linen baby wrap draped over a nearby chair. “As long as you carry her.”
“I was already planning to.” And if one of the guards dared to tell me I spoil my child rotten again, they’d lose another tooth by noon.
