They were in a cave, but the entrance was close enough for the moon and stars to cast their pale light inside. He stood slowly, using the wall Viktor sat against to balance without his leg brace. One shuffling step towards the entrance; another. The air was clear and cold, sapping all warmth from his body.
"We are a tad underdressed for the weather," Viktor said dryly, seeing him shiver.
Jayce laughed. "We're underdressed for everything except one of Count Azika's famous parties."

Viktor places the chalk down with a clack. "Then, come here, Jayce.”
Weeks have come and gone from that fateful night in the lab. Weeks have gone by since Jayce felt the soothing strokes against his scalp.
Viktor knows how much he wants it: the cotton in his brain and the sweetness on his tongue. He knows that Jayce wants to bend his knees and find that peace.
