Summary
It was one of many days of Summer, that could have come this year, next year, or the year before.
One with a silent raven-haired boy, sat in the shade, squinting and shifting his position as the sun coursed across the sky,
and his best friend, working away at the garden before them, chattering about whichever thing would catch his interest, pass between them, and float away again.
Like the retreating warmth of the afternoon sun,
Like the shifting light of the morning,
Following them into a forever, spent together. -

Summary
Basil visits Sunny's grave.
“I love you, Sunny.”
And it was sick. Love is something between good, innocent people, a man and a woman; adults.
“I love you a lot.”
But he says it in every universe. This time, there was nobody to say it back, but the furious blowing of a white pinwheel.

Summary
Sunny had left the hospital with more regrets than answers, his cheek not half as hurt as his mind. The image of his and his best friend's somethings wouldn't wash from his mind - When his mother began talk of a restraining order between the two, he felt his mind dangling off the ledge of a broken balcony. But he didn't.
A month later, he meets Basil atop a green hill overlooking a sunflower field.
"Sunny saw the sunflowers, and, for the first time,
he found his best friend’s likeness to them sickening." -

Summary
The truth comes out, and Basil is left alone. At least he can always message his best friend.
Yet where Sunny is, that eye is. That broken, bloodied eye that Basil felt so suffocatingly guilty about.
And guilt was all he felt, yes.
Or, Basil learns that Sunny never got a glass eye.
