The God most people believed it performed miracles, and saved the sick, and sent his son to die for our sins. But no proof he existed. If anything, if there was a God then he’d save Alex from his horrendous life he lived.

While he spoke, he sensed a subtle change in Jay’s breathing. It hitched, then grew just a little shallower. Tim stilled his own breathing so that he could pay closer attention.
“..Jay?” At first, he thought he might’ve been crying. But concern quickly turned into curiosity when he felt Jay’s hips shift against his thigh. He could feel fingers curling into the fabric of his old, smoke-drenched flannel with the action.
