Dean held his ground as the Darkness reached her hand up, hovering it just above the side of his face. She tilted her head. "You're different than I expected."
His eyes turned black as he shuddered. Even without touch, he felt the side of his face go numb just by the proximity. There was a heat rising in his body, a feeling similar to the mark. He risked a quick glance down to confirm it was still absent.
"Thank you."
He snapped his gaze back to her. "For what-"
"For releasing me from bondage."

Sam watched as the tree was precariously guided through the metal doorway in the crows-nest. "Jesus, Dean." He said, eyes wide as his brother erupted from a bushel of pine, beaming away. "Could you get a bigger tree?" He asked sarcastically.
Dean's smile faded into an almost comical displeasure. "We could have." He said, mocking a glare back at Cas. "But someone is a coward."

After Dean fights through an infection and an empty visitor's chair, a kind ICU nurse finds Dean's secret sketchbook. Based on the drawings she finds inside, she tries to convince Dean that his father may not have his best interests at heart, and Dean struggles to stick to his usual excuses.
