Summary
It's easy until it's not.
Coffee Girl is the first time Jane connects with someone and the magnet pulls her in instead of pushing her away. It's the first time she reaches out to touch the fence and her body erupts from head to toe, rooting her to the ground, lingering in her cells, making her hair stand on end. The time that passes in that simple touch is immeasurable, but it's different than usual. She can't count it, yet she knows—cognizantly, like never before—that time has passed, linear and steady, the way it seems to for everyone else.
