Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.

The team loves to rag on each other every now and then, and teasing nicknames are often a go-to. Buck’s heard ‘em all - Golden Retriever, Bad-Luck-Buck, any variation of ‘kid’ that they think of…So, yeah, Buck’s pretty used to good-naturedly rolling his eyes at the names and throwing a few of his own out in retaliation. He even prides himself on coming up with the most obscure ones for his friends, pride washing over him every time they bark out a surprised laugh or playfully shove him over badly-hidden smiles. But Eddie calling him baby? That’s…Buck doesn’t know how to react to that.

Really, it was Lena’s fault. She’d been the one to demand a video when Eddie had finally caved and sent an SOS to the group chat asking if anyone was willing to trade.
“Is anyone interested in trading jerseys with me? Preferably for a smaller size,” Eddie had said because knowing his coworkers, one of them would’ve been a smart ass and gave him an even bigger size. “I ordered an XL because I’m usually a XL but… the way it fits makes me look like I’m fucking one of the players.”

Summary
In the aftermath of Chris running to Buck after breaking the salad bowl, Buck and Eddie finally realized that they were meant to get together. Athena has musings she absolutely must tell Buck's newly acquired son.
"You really are Buck's son, aren't you?" Athena watched Chris with a fond smile as the boy stuffs his face with Bobby's lasagna. "Did you know your dad broke a salad bowl too?"
"Did Buck run to the police station to tell you about it?" Eddie had to ask.
"Oh, the opposite, actually. You see, Buck hated me."
"I did not hate you, mom." Buck protested, reaching over to serve himself more food.
"He hated me." Bobby refilled the glass of water beside Chris' plate. "He broke the salad bowl and screamed he hated me."
Or, Buck lived as Bobby's only son until he was 16. Then Athena comes in and he is less excited to start learning how to share the only person he knew was his.
