I noticed there weren’t any fanfics about our beloved skaters at school, so I decided to write one myself.
Ilia Malinin arrives as a new student at Figure Skating High, a school designed specifically for people like him, those who can’t get enough of the ice and dream of going big. ‘Do you feel that Zoro?’ she asked him. He looked at his mother questioningly. Her eyes had a faraway look to them, her smile was soft but true. It must have been ages since she’d been able to reach the coast, he realized.
‘Do you feel that? It’s the pull of the sea’
Zoro blinked a few times at that, caught off guard. He tried closing his eyes and holding his breath, but only the breeze answered, carrying droplets of sea water that landed on his cheeks.
‘I don’t feel anything’ he said. He wilted a little at the thought of letting her down, but she only laughed softly.
‘That’s okay love’ she said as she gently squeezed his shoulders ‘You’ll hear the seas calling one day’

The young marine is tall. Maybe an inch or so taller than himself, although it’s hard to tell when Zoro’s tied just low enough for his ankles to drag in the dirt. Lanky build, painstakingly pressed uniform topped with that stupid billed cap. Neatly combed blond hair covering the left side of his face. The eyebrow Zoro can see curls like a nautilus shell at the outer edge.
“Afternoon," he says blandly. “I’m here to take your order.” Zoro only just refrains from scoffing.
“For what?” he asks.
“Your last meal.”
