Dear Castiel,
Hello – it’s Castiel. This must all seem very confusing, and I’m sorry for that. Dean says to tell you that this isn’t some kind of ‘time-travel stunt’, although I’m sure that won’t be your first thought. I know it wasn’t mine. I’ve told Dean to leave now, as this is my notebook and I want everything in it to come from me – or rather, from you. I know you think it's the fifteenth of January, 2010, but it isn't. At the time of my writing this, the date is the fourth of October, 2013. Dean Winchester is your boyfriend of a year and a half, and you no longer work at the library, and in early 2010 you were hit by a car and hospitalised. I’m sorry.
a.k.a the 50 First Dates Dean/Cas AU where Castiel wakes up on a day just like any other, except that three years have passed without his knowing, and Dean Winchester is in the kitchen wanting to marry him.

Summary
The eyes of the witch twitch and a hungry look appears on her face, when she reaches out to tug on the hem of Dean’s jacket.
“No, I don’t think there’s anything funny about that”, she purrs and Dean cringes when her finger starts to circle over his chest, “Losing love like that, it’s not funny at all, I can promise you. I wanted to do to them the same thing they did to me. I wanted to take away what they thought was strong enough to justify hurting me like that. But when I saw them…I wanted to see them bleeding. I wanted to see them choke on their lies.” Cooking her head to the side, she lets out a giggle and a trail of blood triples out of her mouth and down her chin, “What a waste of magic. But now that I think about it…”

During a hunt Dean barely manages to avoid the attack of a crazy witch. Everything seems alright, so they get back home and apart from a mean headache, Dean is okay. At least he thinks that, until he wakes up to his angelic best friend in his bed and no memories of a full year of their relationship.

Castiel is the best investigative journalist around. He's a whistle blower. He's award-winning. And yet, he hasn't found the story that... speaks to him, a story that really makes him feel something.
Dean Winchester is a caught and convicted serial killer, living out his last few months on death row. When he's granted the last interview, Castiel starts to wonder if Dean really is the monster the media and courts painted him as. He puts him on edge, sure. What person exists in this world that is completely comfortable with that honey-sweet smile directed at them? But the more Castiel starts to investigate, the more things start to seem... odd.
Dean Winchester might be completely different than what he presents as.
As a matter of fact... so might Castiel.
