    Summary

Shane Hollander is a man who thrives on structure, routine, the solid ground of a ten-year plan. Ilya likes that about him, likes the embracing squeeze of having a life organized in tandem with Shane.

No one would call Ilya a man who thrives on structure. But it’s there, if not in his DNA then in the patterns of his brain. A call-and-response of: they do this, I do that.

When Ilya’s life is flayed open for the world to dissect, how will they push-and-pull their way back towards what was once a well-organized life?

“I thought we could go through the schedules and figure out what days we’ll be in the same cities this season, or when either of us have a couple of days off in a row. Maybe make a shared calendar, so we c—”

“A sex calendar? Your parents are arriving in thirty minutes, and you are proposing making a sex calendar?” Oh, this was delicious. He’d be able to eat out on this for years, if Shane was willing to give him that long.

“It’s not a sex calendar! It’s just … when we might be able to see each other,” he finished, already sounding defeated.

“And what are you planning on doing when we are seeing each other? Not fucking?”

Funny insightful great Ilya and Shane and Ilya self doubt coming through

It was going to be an enduring mystery to Ilya, how people lived like this. With husbands and wives and boyfriends and girlfriends who did the most tender, heart-melting, caring things like it was nothing at all, that made you want to cry and also want to fuck them until they screamed. How did anyone in this world hold down a job? How did anyone get anything done?

He held Shane’s face in his hands and kissed him ten times, across his little freckles. “This is even hotter than sex calendar. Immersion is good for learning. Later tonight I will only speak Russian when we fuck, yes?”

“Da, pozhaluysta,” Shane grinned, proving he knew exactly what he was doing, as all the blood in Ilya’s body surged to his dick, right as their phones chimed with Yuna’s ‘On our way!’ text.

He Googled ‘shane hollander’ — the search history unhelpfully reminding him of his previous queries: ‘shane hollander tux,’ ‘shane hollander stanley cup,’ 'shane hollander calvin klein,’ 'shane hollander wet shirt,’ ‘shane hollander cottage’ — and selected ‘News’ instead of his customary ‘Images.’

Ok I think I like this series now. Immigration interview aftermath!

Roz has no filter when it comes to how openly he loves Hollander - no shame, no self-consciousness, no fear. No dignity.

He's a great friend, an even better husband, a model pet parent (please see attached photos), and he'll be a great Canadian.

Ilya sits down carefully and takes Shane’s hand. “I am going to ask you something, and I want you to try not to freak out, okay? Take a breath, think about it.”
    That sounds… serious.
“The Centaurs are having a barbeque,” Ilya says. “I would like to go, and I would like you to come with me.”

Shane meets the Centaurs. As Ilya's close personal friend slash charity partner from Canada.

    Awwwww. What a coming out!

It hurts, in a way he hadn’t expected. He knows Anya belongs to Ilya more than him. Ilya adopted her, her main home is in Ottawa, Shane didn’t even want a dog.

    But like… that’s his dog.

    Summary

On July 4, 2018, Ilya announces to the world that he has already played his last home game on Boston Raider ice. He's an Ottawa Centaur now, for better or for worse.

Most all of Boston Twitter agrees it's for worse.

Shane Hollander, watching alone on his couch at the cottage that Ilya just left a few days ago, knows it's for the better. And he thinks he knows that Ilya thinks it's for the better too, that Ilya's excited for the move, excited to be closer to Shane. It's just hard to remember that when Ilya looks so distracted and sad in the wake of the news breaking.

But one day, Shane's going to promise this man that he'll be there for him through better or worse, so he may as well start practicing now.

Some great lines. Cosy feeling. Great Shane and Ilya

Ilya mutters, and his mouth tugs up at the corners, because he likes the way Shane gets possessive. He thinks it’s cute, while Shane thinks he could really fucking lose his shit if he's tested on this enough. But—whatever. When Shane had suggested spending a by-week in Mexico, Ilya had nixed the idea immediately, like the whole country is on permanent probation cause one guy fucked Shane there a few years ago.

Hopefully no one comes through with a blacklight before buying the place from you,” he says, and Ilya throws him a dirty look.

“I never fuck in kitchen before you entered my life, Hollander,” Ilya snaps, which is probably a lie. Definitely a lie. Shane decides he doesn’t want to think about it either way. “You are bad influence.”

    Summary

So Shane Hollander is, how do you say in English, a dirty little thief. A clothing thief, to be precise. Ilya can't say he saw that coming, but he also can't pretend he's all that mad about it.

His shirt looks good on his Shane. On Shane. On Hollander.

Right. His shirt looks good on Hollander.

Funny and good yearny but funny still! characterisation of Ilya and Shane

“That’s not gonna happen,” Shane says, with all the confidence of someone who’s worried about that maybe five times a week since he was seven years old.

The cab driver takes one look at him in the rearview mirror and winces so badly that Shane’s momentarily afraid that he somehow tripped and got ‘Just Got Dicked Down By Ilya Rozanov’ tattooed on his face.

liked showing new English words to Hollander, even though it felt sometimes like he was a very small child bringing home a shitty piece of art from school and making his mother look at it like it was something special

Does it smell like me does it smell like you have you worn it often enough that it’s become yours do you miss me yet have you thought about me today did you grab the closest thing you could find when you put it on or did you choose it carefully does it feel soft do you think that was random do you know that I
