Summary

"Aiki, I'm going to talk to mama tomorrow."
Aiki stopped tracing letters and looked at her father with widened eyes. She remained silent until she firmly nodded back.
"Just a nod? Don't you have anything else to say? I'm seeing mama for the first time in two years," he pressed further. He rubbed his palms on the top of his knees.
His daughter stayed silent. She wasn't usually this quiet even with trivial news. Those loud outbursts of hers reminded him so much of Kanae each time.
She leaned back on her chair and swung her legs.
"Be nice to mama. I'll be good tomorrow," she finally said.
He pursed his lips. "I doubt she's ready to come back home."
"I will not be good tomorrow."
He ruffled his daughter's wet black hair, earning a shout of laughter from her. "Kid, I can handle you. At least cheer me on for tomorrow."
She dropped her pencil and climbed up his lap, tiny fists "blinking." "Papa, I always believe in you. Don't be scared in front of mama!"
That's just it, he thought as he hugged his daughter.
Sanemi is scared of Kanae's reaction when he shows up tomorrow at her workplace, much more of the formal proposal he plans to offer.
