"Daniel had never thought of himself as needy, but whenever Armand left him with a tissue and a pat on the head he felt like shit. Sure, Daniel had ‘done well’ or whatever pithy bit of praise Armand thought to offer him that evening, but what did that matter when he’d wake up alone and spiral over it the next day? And Armand, either unknowing or just uncaring, would disappear and leave him to stew for a handful of days until he turned up again as if nothing had happened at all."
Daniel goes to jail. Takes Armand out for a night on the town. Struggles with feeling abandoned but, for better or worse, gets what he'd asked for in the end.

Post-TVA, Armand begins to wonder where Daniel is. Perhaps he hates him but it's strange that he hasn't heard anything about Daniel in years. He starts to ask questions, to see if anyone might know where he is and what he's up to, only to learn that Marius does know. Marius has him. And Daniel is unwell.
This is a missing scene/scenes from canon since we never learn how Armand finds out about Daniel's condition, nor how things progress from there.

Daniel nodded slowly. A thousand lifetimes, a million, perhaps more – he had the suspicion he would always want to come back to Armand in the end, but he didn’t want to cause problems here either. They were happy. They deserved to be fucking happy.
“And perhaps, when it comes to the one who makes us, it’s a love we will never move past,” Louis admitted. “No matter how much time has passed, nor how truly infuriating they are.”
“Tell me about it,” Daniel agreed quietly.
“I did tell you about it, Daniel.” Louis said. “You wrote a book about it. They made a movie about it, and this is why Lestat likes to sing Sympathy for the Devil on the karaoke.”
A reunion in (hopefully) six parts: Armand and Daniel finding their way back together during and after Prince Lestat.
