But it was so unexpected, so strange to think of Kaz as a boy who might have had a family once. Did he laugh like Matthias did when his dad tickled his belly? Did Kaz’s mother always sneak him the sweetest hot chocolate before bed? Did he have a sibling to play with?
OR: After finding the Grisha burning on the pyre, Matthias can't sleep, thinking about his family and his relationship with Nina. Kaz Brekker comes to remind him that there are shittier things in life in his own, demonic (annoying) way.
