But Jan Van Eck doesn't just collect the artefacts, no, he wants a piece of the angels. For his collection, to sell, whatever he can do with it. Ever since Wylan found out just what his father is doing with the angels, he's tried to help them, save them, but to no avail. He's always been too late.
In desperate need of help to get his wings back, Jesper Fahey needs to figure out whether he can trust the humans around him. After all, humans stole his wings, so what makes the other ones different? Maybe it's the look in Wylan's eyes that makes him begin to trust him. Maybe, it's all the pain he can see in them. -

A half-hysterical laugh rips from Wylan‘s throat, even as it occurs to him that his situation isn‘t even remotely funny. He can feel eyes on him from the people passing by, but the only person who should be looking at him still has not turned around.
„Jes…“, he manages to wheeze out, and the pain in his stomach sears and very nearly makes him topple over right there and then. Jesper smiles, more a grimace than anything else and feels the pull in every muscle, every cut stinging in the cool air. He swipes his tongue over bloodied teeth before speaking, “I did not think Kaz Brekker to be someone who offers to help people so freely.”
