Master has taught him to use the water machine outside his room, taught him how to maneuver around his IVs so he could eat cake without it getting everywhere. He’ll be ok without Master.
So why is he crying.

She might’ve broken him. The gears behind his eyes are turning like a madman as Harumasa frantically searches her face for—something. He doesn’t appear to find it, though, as after a moment he stammers out: “But you’re… together?”
Jane leans in closer, the booth’s leather seats squeaking beneath them as she sidles in, practically a hair’s breadth away. Heat radiates off of his skin, warming her lips—so very, very close to his cheeks.
“Just because there’s a goalie,” she whispers, “doesn’t mean you can’t score.”
Jane aims to ensure Seth's happiness. Her weapon of choice just so happens to be another man.
She just didn't expect to like that other man so much, too.

"All this time," he's saying, and the edges of his words are starting to lose their sense. He bows his head. His hair falls forward over his forehead so that when he looks up again his red now black eyes are shadowed by it. "All this time I could have had you."

“You’ve been quiet. Are you jealous?”
Reki lurches up. “Jealous of what?”
Miya’s brow angles impossibly higher. “Of all the attention the prince is getting?”
Right, of course. That’s what anyone would be jealous over. “I just don’t believe it. Prince Langa isn’t…” he waves one hand, frowning, “...like that.”
“Ha,” Miya crows. “Like you’d know.”
But he does. And Reki thinks: I could do it. I could make him smile. I’ve done it before.
