Summary
“Just because you can’t see a ghost doesn’t mean it isn’t real,” Robin says. “There are plenty of things we can’t see that are real.”
Jonathan raises his eyebrows. “Name one.”
“Uh, fucking gravity?” Steve says.
“Yeah, I can drop an apple,” Jonathan deadpans.
Nancy clears her throat. “Is this an important conversation, or can we get back to the ghosts now?”
Or: a ghost files AU featuring non-linear timeline angst, the investigation of an abandoned ghost town, the art of convincing yourself you aren’t in love with your already dating best friends, and — possibly — proof that ghosts do exist.

Summary
It’s the middle of the night, a red glow is filtering through the curtains, and Nancy once again finds herself naked in Steve Harrington’s bed, watching him leave.
He’s sat at the end of the mattress, leaning to pull on his discarded socks, his shirt still missing in the rubble of the evening’s activities. If he knows she’s awake, he doesn’t acknowledge it, which leaves Nancy to stare at the expanse of his back- at the freckles she can spot even in the dark, and the angry marks she’s left against his shoulder blades.
The sight isn’t unfamiliar.Steve never sticks around for long these days. And wishing he would stay is a solitary, selfish pastime of Nancy’s.

Summary
She tastes the same as she did a few months ago, when she’d been home for spring break. She tastes the same as she had over Christmas, beneath the hot chocolate and cinnamon that lingered sweet on her lips.
She tastes the same as she had at the end of last summer, when they’d fallen together into this confusing, temporary break from sanity. Drunk and seeking an escape from the inevitabilities beating at their front doors: her, her imminent departure for college, and him, what it meant to be the person left behind when everyone else has moved on.

Summary
Summer in Hawkins.
Nancy Wheeler has built a life that looks right from the outside. Safe. Predictable. Expected. A future that makes sense, even if it no longer feels like a dream.
She tells herself the past is exactly where it belongs. That some doors can be left open forever.
Steve Harrington has always been there. Steady. Familiar. A constant she never questioned. Until he stops waiting. Until his life begins to move forward without her.
The certainty Nancy relied on fractures. Rapidly. Painfully. There is no gentle realization, no quiet unraveling. Only the collapse of everything she believed she still controlled.
As old feelings resurface and the reality of Steve’s new relationship forces her to confront everything she avoided, Nancy is left facing a question she can no longer postpone.
Is it braver to remain in the life she has outgrown, or to risk everything for the one she truly wants?
