Sawamura Eijun was known as a once-in-a-generation genius. Since childhood, he possessed unbelievable talent in everything he tried—academics, music, martial arts, art, and sports. No matter the challenge, Eijun mastered it effortlessly. Yet despite his endless talents, nothing ever truly captured his heart.
At age 8, Eijun moved from Nagano to Los Angeles with his family.
One day, by chance, he stumbled upon a local baseball game. The crack of the bat, the speed of the pitches, and the passion of the players awakened something inside him for the first time.
Though a complete beginner, Eijun’s instincts, athleticism, and genius adaptability allowed him to improve at terrifying speed. Coaches called him a miracle. Opponents feared him. Scouts became obsessed with him. But while others admired his talent, Eijun only cared about one thing:
The happiness he felt every time he stood on the baseball field.
For the first time in his life, he found something he truly loved.

“So, Ei,” his pops started.
Eijun looked up, swallowing down the lump in his throat. The real question was finally coming; he could taste it in the air. He held his breath as he observed Pops slowly putting down his own chopsticks and trying hard to be casual as he asked The Question.
“Have you decided on which school you want to go to?” He asked, and Eijun could hear the imaginary sound of the weighted ball dropped onto their table, cracking the facade of a peaceful dinner and straight to a battle of custody.

Or, what if Eijun has always been raised to be a pitcher? In the circumstances of living with coaches as his parents, he is no longer a diamond in the rough, but a pristine diamond from the beginning.

Summary
Sawamura Eijun loves baseball, and has quite a bit of untapped potential, but he lacks confidence due to past experiences in middle school. Not to mention, he’s extremely hard of hearing, which makes communication more difficult. However, an offer to come to Seido still arrives, and suddenly he finds himself going to a school devoted to the sport he had decided he was done with.
Meanwhile, Miyuki Kazuya is great at baseball, but lacks some tact and understanding that would make him an effective leader off the field as well as on. Perhaps it’s just his personality, or perhaps it’s something deeper. Whatever the case, he doesn’t see a need to change, until he’s working with the new first year pitcher at Seido, Sawamura Eijun. Usually, working with a pitcher would be no sweat, even if he offended the player along the way, but there’s one catch: Sawamura Eijun is extremely hard of hearing, and— for some reason— is terrified of upperclassmen.
Or, an AU to Ace of the Diamond where both Sawamura and Miyuki are more traumatized, Sawamura is hard of hearing, and they learn and grow together.

Summary
Sawamura Eijun did not choose Meiji University because of Narumiya Mei.
He chose it for baseball, for growth and for himself.
Finding his former rival waiting on the same mound is an unfortunate coincidence.
Their teammates assume the tension is left over from Seido versus Inashiro. The bickering, the glares, even the way they push each other harder than anyone else.
What no one knows is that they were never just rivals.
They were something else first.
And they ended quietly, over one sentence neither of them bothered to clarify.
Now they are teammates. Exes. Still competitive. Still unfinished.
