“We had a little accident.” Lestat presses one hand to her back, rubs gentle circles to soothe her hyper-sensitive nerves spurred on by the blood rush. “It’s all right, she’s still learning.”
“The only thing she is learning is lack of discipline.” Louis frowns. He’s seen her feed before without a drop spilled, but still there are certain nights she comes home utterly drenched, and he doesn’t understand it. He understands so little about her sometimes, and it makes him shudder to think of the poor fool who met his end at the insatiable appetite. of a giddy little girl in search of a sugar rush.
“She did remarkably well considering…well, considering how much he squirmed.” The corner of his mouth twitches in a silent smirk. “It’s hard, with a mouth so small. She’ll try again tomorrow, won’t you ma petite?”
“Enough of this talk.”
Louis always forbids such things in his house. He frowns, but even then he looks so handsome in the soft yellow light, the long lines in his face curving like a carved saint on the altar. He pushes one bushel of golden blood-knotted hair away from her face, pins her with his narrow-eyed gaze.
“Why don’t you prepare a bath, Lestat?”
