    Summary

The air was festive and bright, and when the Jedi came home for the holiday, they greeted each other with real happiness.

But it was not unalloyed. They could not help but count their missing number, the dead and the departed. The absent.

    All loved, still.

Though that love couldn’t change the fact that nothing would ever be the same again.

Or: in the fallout of the Clone Wars and the catastrophe they narrowly avoided, the Jedi Order throws a party.

Many times, both during the year on the run and after rekindling their relationship in the clone wars, Satine told Obi-Wan that she loved him. Before he managed offer back those words, he used to show her through his actions how much she means to him. After almost losing her, though, he tells her that he loves her, he has always loved her. She had known, of course, but it’s nice to hear those words.

    Summary

The door cracked open and let the wind flew from the balcony Padmé was standing on since she heard the familiar roar of Millennium Falcon and rushed to her balcony to check. When she saw Han, Luke and Chewie walked out of her, she felt relieved, happy that they were okay from the mission they weren’t granted permission for. As she waited for her daughter, her heart felt heavier. And when she finally came out, she wasn’t alone. She was bringing a guest.

Ever since she saw her daughter and son happy with him, Obi-Wan hugging him, she couldn’t move. It felt like a dream again, a dream where her husband would come back to her.

“Padmé…” The hesitant yet full of longing robotic voice was never so sincere.

She turned her back. “Is it you? Have my prayers been answered? Is it really you standing there, or am I dreaming once more?” She asked with agony. She walked up to him. “You look different, your body looks tired.” And she asked almost not believing herself. “Is it really you, my love?”

“I am not the man you fell in love with.” Anakin answered with shame. “I am not the man you once adored. I am not your kind and gentle husband. And I am not the love you knew before.”
