In the ranks of hopeless cases, determining whether Phoenix Wright or Miles Edgeworth deserved the top spot was a fiercely contested debate (one described by outsiders as “kind of cute” and “just like an old married couple” and, when polite terms failed them, “gross”). Both could agree, however, on third place: for the only case nearly as hopeless as their love for each other was Phoenix’s self-proclaimed quest to find the perfect pet name for Miles.

Summary
Edgeworth refuses to conform in Von Karma's beliefs on how to be a prosecutor causing him to be disowned. He takes up a fake name, trying to start a new life as a different person. He accidentally wanders into a bakery run by his old childhood friend, Phoenix, who hires him as an assistant. As he works under Phoenix, they become close and start to fall in love. But Edgeworth doesn't know if it is right to give into his feelings when he is lying to Phoenix.

“So that’s it.”
His tone is even—neutral, almost unbearably so. Residual heat from the coffee container bleeds into Miles’ open palms. Thinking it better to feign calm, he brings the cup to his lips and sips.
“You’re in love with somebody, huh?”
What little of the steaming liquid had flooded in veers sharply from his windpipe and into his esophagus; eyes wide with mortification, he whips his head in Wright’s direction. “Must you always jump to conclusions?” he sputters. “It’s nothing of the sort!”
Wright, for his part, is deathly blank in the face of Miles’ objection. Save for the way he slowly hunches over, shoulders curling in to hide his eyes, he shows no signs of having been affected by his outburst.
“It’s alright”—he brings a hand to his nose bridge, pinching lightly—“don’t worry.”
Miles Edgeworth, Phoenix Wright, and a cup of coffee to mask unnecessary feelings.
