Summary
Clancy doesn’t always see it, but Torch does. He’s got something special inside of him, a reckless kind of hunger that makes him a little wild, a little untameable. A thing with wings and claws, with all the sky to conquer.
Torch sees it every time they race each other through the streets. He hears it in every song that Clancy sings. Every angry word he hurls at the sky sometimes because he can’t stand to keep them caged in his chest any longer.
And that’s a thing he would hate to see die. But that’s what Dema does best. And every day it seems to swallow a little more of Clancy. Pulling him towards an inevitable means to an end.
But if there’s one thing Torch knows, it’s that he’ll protect Clancy with his life. He’ll be his shield, his guard at his right hand. To keep that spark alive.
