A sharp kick to his left leg made him buckle. He clutched the ground in pain. Constant mutters of ‘ow, ow, ow’ fell from his lips. With a pained eye he looked up at the other to find him walking away.
“He sure packs a punch for someone so small.” He seethed through his teeth with teary eyes, watching the figure stomp away.
However, pain isn’t the only thing that settled in him. It budded gradually and found home in his heart. A spark, a flame, ignited in his cold, desolate, soul.
He was not cradled by it like the leaves he had once dreamed to become. That sense of weightlessness, that fall, did not come to him, and yet-
He felt claimed by a different kind of gravity all together.

On and island where the volcano of an ancient God slumbers, a ritual is commenced to quench its rage every 20 years. This year, 'the Chosen' has passed on before said ritual could take place. One question arises on the small land: "Who will take his place?"
Gradually, eyes settle on Osamu Dazai, the boy who appeared from nowhere, and Chuuya Nakahara, who might have a closer relationship to the active landmass than assumed. Lives on the line and bonds forming, things well...
They erupt.

Summary
Inferiority is a scary thing. Deep down, maybe Dazai had always been jealous of Chuuya. Maybe he had always wished, however faint the notion had been, that he had been born with the same burning power that Chuuya had been.
Even so, Chuuya and Dazai were friends. Good friends, even. They had grown up together, why wouldn’t they be? They were the golden princes of two of the most powerful allied kingdoms. Dazai was the soon-to-be King of Vilia, and Chuuya was the second-prince of Kadell.
But what happens when that allyship starts to crack? What happens when rumors of the usage of dark magic in Vilia start reaching the royal family of Kadell?
And for heaven’s sake, why has Dazai been “sick” for a year?

Dazai is depressed and Chuuya is unimpressed.
