"What?"
"Loons." - Ilya says and laughs again.
"Loons?" - Yuna repeats confused.
"When I went to the cottage last summer Shane made fun of me because I never heard the loon call before. I was so scared. I called it stupid canadian wolf bird." - Yuna lets out a little laugh, Ilya continues - "I just realized that these ducks on my baby blanket, they look like..."
"Loons." - Yuna finishes with smile tugging on her lips.
"Yes. Loons. Shane will make fun of me." - Ilya groans but not maliciously. He takes the blanket out of Yuna's hands and brings it to his face, trying to see if it still smells like home, like his mom. But the smell was gone and his heart lurches.

The internet has decided that Ilya Rozanov is absolutely, definitely, 100% banging a Hollander.
They’ve got photo evidence. Multiple sightings. Instagram stories from the same café. The man stayed OVERNIGHT at the Hollander residence.
It’s the most legendary power move in NHL history: seduce your rival’s hot mom to assert dominance. There’s just one tiny problem with this theory. Ilya’s fucking a Hollander, all right. Just … not that one.
Or in which Ilya’s boyfriend's mother keeps adopting him, the internet keeps assuming the worst, and Shane Hollander is having the worst month of his entire life. At least until he does something that breaks hockey forever.

“I was thinking,” Hayden says slowly, carefully, “that it might be nice to add Lily to the WAG group chat? He couldn’t come to events or anything still, and he’d have to go by Lily, but it might be… nice? A way for him to— to be a part of things.”
Jackie sits back in her seat, taking a sip of coffee as she considers her husband’s proposal.
It wasn’t a terrible idea. It’d involve lying to all the other WAGs, but Jackie wasn’t too bothered by that. If Shane ever decided to come out, they would either understand or they wouldn’t—a line that would probably pretty closely mirror those who would be okay with Shane being gay and those who wouldn’t. And those who wouldn’t—well, fuck them anyway.
“That does sound like it might be nice,” Jackie finally says, smiling when Hayden immediately sits up straighter at her approving words.
“Yeah?” Hayden checks anyways.
“Yeah,” Jackie says.
Or, despite his refusal to let her add him to the WAG group chat, Jackie manages to quickly befriend Shane’s boyfriend. It takes longer for her to understand exactly what that means.
