Summary
The year is 2170 humanity has returned to Pandora with the goal of colonizing the planet. In order to do so they must find ways to pacify the wildlife and subvert the immune response of the planet.
Mike Wheeler is one of three people chosen to drive avatar bodies in hopes of advancing the research on humanity's problem. As he explores the world of Pandora she breaths a life into him that he hadn't realized he lost. A kind Na'vi helps him to learn about and explore his new home and he soon finds himself stuck in the middle of a conflict he hadn't asked for. Torn between the world he knew and the one that saved him he must pick a side. All while struggling with feelings he shouldn't have.
Tldr: Set in the Avatar universe, Mike is a avatar driver and Will is a Na'vi that find there fast developing relationship tested by war and loss.

Summary
“You kept my painting,” Will says. Sure enough, there’s the heart on Mike’s shield, just as red as the day Will painted it. It was Will’s heart that he painted, maybe. It was also Will’s heart that he pulled out and molded into the lie he thought Mike needed to hear, halfway between Salt Lake City and a secret government bunker in Nevada.
Will’s heart is in his throat now, and in Mike’s hands, and on Mike’s wall, framed and carefully displayed.
They stand there in silence for a minute, Will on one side of the room and Mike on the other and too many years of radio silence in between. The quiet is so heavy it’s like a weight on Will’s chest, crushing him, applying pressure—but to a wound or to a bruise, he doesn’t know.
“Will,” Mike says. “Why are you here?”

“Can you turn the radio up or bring it closer? It’s not working” El said about five minutes in. As the radio was brought closer, she let out a yell of frustration, casting the goggles off her eyes. They widened concerningly as she took in the flickering lights. Her eyes landed on Will.
And fuck. In Mike’s all encompassing anxiety over whether or not El could fend Vecna off in time to save Max, he had forgotten about Will.Will, who the universe had taped a giant ‘Kick Me’ sign to his back. Will whose eyes were rolled to the back of his head and Will whose nose was gushing blood all down his front.
And Will whose left eye was completely black.
