Summary
Barbatos is born of the wind. He holds no form or memories; he is a wisp born of the wind, like a thousand others. He learns and grows and ascends in the wake of a terrible rebellion and even more terrible loss. He is Barbatos, Anemo Archon, God of Freedom, Protector of Mondstadt. He is Barbatos, friend of Morax, of the Traveler, dare he say even of Master Diluc. He is Venti, the Tone-Deaf Bard, the slacker who has a bigger tab than even Kaeya had amassed at Angel's Share. That is all he is, or is it not?
Morax remembers; he has always remembered even when he had first opened his eyes as a newborn quilin. He remembered as he raged and fought, as he slayed gods and monsters alike, as he became the God of War and later the God of Contracts. He has never forgotten. But Barbatos has; Barbatos has no recollection of their previous life, of their previous entanglment. And perhaps this is a kindness he can offer him, a life free of the memories and mistakes that had ruined their first chance. If only the world was kind enough to allow them such a choice.
Aka the fic where Zhongli is He Xuan, Venti is Shi Qingxuan and everyone comes to term with past mistakes.

He had watched Morax dream before. He watched the weight in his brow soften, the lines of war fade from his mouth. There had been mornings where neither of them spoke for hours—just shared the silence, the kind that made the world feel still.
Wouldn’t he have remembered that?
Barbatos closed his eyes.
Maybe fate was unwinding in different directions.
(Or—Venti and Zhongli find themselves back during the time of the Archon War and everyone else is confused about their pining asses.)

“You're eager, huh?”
They try to sound confident with that smirking expression smeared on their face, but the wavering in their tone is enough to give them away to anyone who knows them as well as Morax. He opts to ignore the comment, knowing anything he could say would play into Venti’s little game. There’s a time and place for everything, and to where that game would lead has no place presently; maybe soon. As of now, relaxation is in order.

Summary
Zhongli is the hero Morax of Liyue, who also happens to be the CEO of Dìjūn Enterprises.
Venti is the hero Barbatos of Mondstadt, who also happens to be a famous celebrity known for his acting and song-writing.
Morax finds Barbatos incredibly suspicious, and is only interested in getting closer to the man to find out his secret identity.
Barbatos is absolutely elated that Morax wants to team up with him for a case that involves both of their cities.
Zhongli meets this Mondstadt actor at a gala, and strikes up a conversation out of curiosity.
After one Liyuean Gala Venti thinks that a certain CEO might have caught onto his alter-ego.
Why else could this guy be talking to him?
